“The church is a spiritual Alcoholics Anonymous. In it there no perfect people and there are no holier than thous.”
It will be interesting to note that the letters in the new testament of the bible were written to churches, meaning Christians and not unbelievers. The letters for most part were full of corrections and encouragement and did not in any way suggest that the Christians were perfect.
Unfortunately in our present day Christianity, those who have taken it upon themselves to persecute Christians are none other than their fellow Christians. They see it as a responsibility to set other Christians up and quickly expose their shortcomings to the unbelieving world, thereby ‘disobeying the law of Christ’.
This is a lesson for us who don’t hesitate to criticize other Christians when they fall. We are to encourage each other, not look for ways to trip each other. And if we really look within, we will find out that no one is perfect.
